Frequently Asked Questions

What is Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Medicine is centred around finding the root cause or causes of illness and using the least invasive treatment methods to address this. However, Naturopathic Medicine can be practiced differently depending on the Naturopathic Doctor you choose to see. At HD Health, we practice functional medicine with a focus on diagnostic testing.

Are Naturopathic Services Covered by OHIP?

Naturopathic consultations are not covered by OHIP but insurance companies can offer coverage for Naturopathic services. However, the total allotment and cap per visit is different for every insurance company. Additionally, diagnostic testing such as bloodwork may be covered under diagnostic testing or a healthcare spending account. If you are unsure what your insurance covers, it is recommended that you call and determine your exact coverage.

Can Naturopathic Doctors refer me for bloodwork, imaging or to a specialist?

Naturopathic Doctors can provide you with a requisition for bloodwork but it is not covered by OHIP. Naturopathic Doctors cannot at this time, provide a referral to specialists or provide a requisition for imaging (ultrasound, MRI etc.).

Do you have a cancellation fee?

Because we reserve and hold your time slot, we require at least 24 hours notice for all cancellations. If less than 24 hours of notice is given or an appointment is missed, we reserve the right to charge you 50% of your consultation cost.
